What is tallow?
Tallow is purified animal fat, rendered at low heat into a creamy, shelf-stable skincare ingredient. Ours comes from cattle that are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, which means a cleaner, more nutrient-dense fat profile than conventional alternatives.
What does "non-nano" mean?
Nano particles are small enough to potentially pass through the skin barrier. Non-nano particles are larger and stay on the surface. We use non-nano exclusively.
What's in it?
Four ingredients: 100% grass-fed and grass-finished tallow, non-nano zinc oxide, organic cocoa butter, and organic jojoba oil. No chemical filters, no fragrance, no fillers, no preservatives.
Does it leave a white cast?
Mineral zinc is naturally white, so a light cast is normal on application. Whipping it into tallow and cocoa butter means it works in far more easily than most mineral creams, but if you have deeper skin, warm it thoroughly between your palms and work it in a section at a time.
Will it melt in the heat?
Yes, and that's normal. There are no synthetic stabilizers in this formula, so it responds to temperature. Don't leave the jar in a hot car or in direct sun. If it melts, let it cool and reset — the formula is unchanged.
How is this different from your other whips?
Same grass-fed tallow base. This one adds non-nano zinc oxide and cocoa butter, which makes it substantially richer and heavier than our face whips. It's built for skin that's outdoors, not for a nightly face routine.
Is tallow greasy?
When rendered and whipped properly, tallow absorbs quickly and leaves skin soft rather than oily. A small amount goes further than you might expect.
Is tallow safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Tallow's fatty acid profile closely mirrors the skin's natural oils, making it one of the most skin-compatible moisturising ingredients available — particularly well-suited to sensitive, reactive, or compromised skin.
Does tallow smell like beef?
High-quality, grass-fed tallow rendered at low temperature is nearly scentless. In this formula, warm sandalwood and vanilla essential oils give it a subtle, grounding aroma.
Is tallow sustainable?
Yes. We use fat that would otherwise go to waste as a byproduct of the meat industry, practising whole-animal stewardship and reducing unnecessary waste in the process.
Is tallow vegan?
Tallow is an animal product, so it isn't suitable for those following a vegan lifestyle. If deep, ancestral nourishment from an ethically sourced, natural ingredient appeals to you, there's nothing quite like it.
How do I use the tallow whip?
Warm a small amount between your palms until it softens, then gently press into clean skin. Use on the face, neck, body, or anywhere that needs extra care.
How long does it last?
Tallow is naturally shelf-stable. For best freshness, we recommend using within 12 months of opening.
Can I use tallow if I have acne?
Yes. Tallow sits low on the comedogenic scale and can help balance the skin's oil production. Its vitamins and CLA content may support reduced inflammation and a clearer complexion over time.
Why did my tallow melt or change texture?
Our tallow is made without stabilizers or synthetic ingredients, so it naturally responds to temperature. In warmer months, it may soften, melt, or lose its whipped texture. This is completely normal.
